Run Girl Run

Hi Friends! I've been working harder to incorporate running into my weekly fitness routine. What I have found is that the right shoe is KEY! Currently, I am running in Brooks I will link the ones I have below. Before now I've tried Nike, Adidas, Asics, Mizuno you name it I feel like I've tried it. On Running has recently been coming up on my searches but I don't know much about them. Have you tried them? Do you love them? Tell me everything! My current running schedule is 1-2 Peloton digital runs of about 20 minutes on a regular treadmill (I'm dying to purchase a Peloton Tread) and one run outdoors. I would love to run outside more but honestly running alone creeps me out and my husband can only come with me on the weekends. I would love to hear from you if you have a shoe recommendation or even advice on how to transition from a beginner to intermediate. Love ya, Sammi <3 Current shoe: https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/brooks-womens-ricochet-le-...

Personal Reset

Being able to notice when you need to take a moment and step back from the hustle and bustle of life and reset yourself is so important. I find myself doing this a couple of times a year and those around me don't always understand. What I don't do is just shut myself and leave people wondering how I feel about my relationship with them is going. I like to have a conversation and let them know that I can't go to that particular event or volunteer to do that thing because I am focusing my time on myself at the moment.  If you are anything like me you have a million things going on at all times work, husband, kids, school, sports, friends, family etc. We can manage everything for a short period of time before we start to feel like we are going crazy. Take time each week to write down what you NEED to do that week and what you would LIKE to do that week. If you have a goal you are working towards try to set aside at least an hour a day to work on it or plan it out differently...

Motivation: Financial Series

Recently I have become more and more motivated about becoming financially free. It literally gives me the same excitement buying a new makeup palette used to give me. I would plan all of the looks I could create and what color combinations would be my new go-to, the options were endless. Now, I dream of the things I can completely pay off and what I can do with those freed up funds that used to go to that monthly bill.  With this newfound motivation came a lot of research and advice that I sought out. One of the tools that kept popping up was the cash envelope system so I got on Amazon and searched for weeks adding and removing different options as I considered how they would benefit my family and I. After all of my research I kept coming back to the cleaver fox envelops pictured below and found that what I really wanted was not only to be more mindful about my spending but more than that I wanted to be able to track patterns. Being able to see what I am budgeting vs...

My Favorite Summer Products

Hello Beauties! I wanted to get on here and share the products that I have been constantly reaching for this summer. Living in Houston with 90+ degree heat along with the insane humidity does not make it easy to keep your makeup from literally sliding off of your face BUT I have found a solution! I start by washing and moisturizing my face, I have extremely dry skin. Then I use the IT Cosmetics CC cream 50 spf, not only does it help my skin but it also protects it from the sun which is always a plus. Then I add Tarte shapetape concealer and set my ENTIRE face with the Huda Beauty setting powder in the shade "banana bread". Once that has set I wipe off the excess add some bronzer, blush, highlight and spray with the Morphe setting mist. I bought the spray while I was in Vegas because I needed something in addition to the setting powder and it has been working like a dream! Finish by adding some mascara or lashes if thats your jam, pop on some chapstick or your favori...

You were GIVEN this life because you are STRONG enough to LIVE it!

These are words that constantly circle my thoughts, living these days can be a task. We all have a million and one things happening at any given time. Trying to add personal development and growth in the mix can make things even more challenging BUT that is how you know its working. If we only ever did the things that were easy we would stay in the same boring routine. Busy seasons pass, money comes and goes, people will drop-in and out of your life but you choose how to keep going and how to persevere. Nothing happens by accident and you are always blessed to go through what comes your way as long as you see the value in the challenge and accept the change. Do you have someone in your life that you are able to speak with that can identify the positive struggles in your life? For me it's my husband, speaking with him and dissecting challenges and matching them with my personal goals & our shared goals are what keep us growing and supporting each other. Tell someone your...

Motivation

Motivation Motivation is a topic I really wanted to address on here for several reasons. It was the reason I started this blog in the first place. I was motivated to write to women in all walks of life as a real wife, mom, daughter, friend, student and full-time employee. What motivates me may not motivate all of you but I am hopeful at least a few understand where I’m coming from.   My family is a HUGE motivation in my life, providing for them is how I feel accomplished in this area. That means I work hard and I am constantly signing myself up for several other things such as kid’s sports, work projects, college where I fluctuate between part-time and full-time depending on my work load. I’ve earned an associate’s degree already and am just a few classes away from earning my bachelors in communication. If I’m being honest I am almost scared to graduate because I’ve done work and school for so long (like 8 years) that I’m not sure how I’ll feel when I don’t ...

Hello Everyone!

Hi Ladies! I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my vision for this blog and our journey together. About two years ago I started my YouTube channel doing makeup tutorials because buying makeup and playing with it makes my heart happy. In between working full-time and going to school full-time/part-time in addition to being a wife and mother, all those duties seemed to take up most of my time so I let it go for a while but hope to be adding content soon there as well. While I wasn't filming and editing videos or actually teaching myself to edit videos I found myself on a self-development journey as well which isn't something I had thought about or considered before but as soon as I started I knew it was everything I never knew I needed. I don't know about you but I learn by reading or watching then doing so I came across a video by Rachel Hollis talking about mommy guilt. Surely if you're a mom you know exactly what I...
